The Classic K9 Extreme Team Brings Non-Stop Action to the Great Iowa Pet Expo!
The Classic K9 Extreme Team visits Iowa for the first time ever to astonish and delight you as they entertain with a series of "Olympic" styled events such as Grand Prix Agility Racing, Musical Mats, Barrel Racing, Relay Racing, World Record Canine High Jumping and much, much more! Every show is different and will put smiles on the faces of audiences of all ages. The Classic K9's will be performing several times per day. Don't miss the fun and excitement all day long!
The Classic K9’s perform all over the country and they are always looking for performance dogs and their owners to join their team. The Extreme Team will hold try outs during the Great Iowa Pet Expo. If your dog can jump, knows any form of Agility, likes to retrieve toys, can catch a Frisbee, or knows basic obedience, then you should consider checking the Great Iowa Pet Expo schedule for Classic K9 team auditions. Your dog could become the star of the show!
Audition Requirements: Your dog must be able to work 'off-leash' and show no sign of aggression toward people or other dogs.

Miller's Petting Zoo: The Greatest Farm Animal Show in the Midwest!
This is a perfect photo opportunity! You and your family can pet and feed these wonderful little animals when you visit the Great Iowa Pet Expo. This USDA Certified petting zoo is the cleanest operation you will every see. Their animals are beautiful, healthy and playful.
You'll see: llamas, baby goats, Jacob lambs, Flemish Giant Rabbits, miniature donkeys, geese and chickes, ducks, calves and more. The helpful, knowledgeable, uniformed staff will answer all your questions about the animals.
As expected, a hand-washing station and wipes are available right on site.

JOEL SILVERMAN & FOSTER
Joel Silverman turned a childhood dream into a lifelong career of training and performing with the animals he loves so much. From his early days in the 70'ss and 80's, Joel found himself working in nearly every theme park in Southern California. Whether he was training killer whales at Sea World, dolphins at Knott's Berry Farm and Magic Mountain, or birds, dogs, and cats at Universal Studios, Joel adapted the techniques he developed to launch a successful career in training animals to star in live shows, Hollywood films, television programs and commercials.
For over 25 years Joel has worked behind the scenes training animals for movies, TV shows, and commercials. For the past 10 years, Joel has been closely involved, and has been responsible for coordinating and training of the cats and dogs in most of the IAMS national commercials and print ads.
As a host of the popular television series Good Dog U on Animal Planet, for nearly 10 years, Joel has had the opportunity to showcase his unique ability to relate to and problem-solve behavior issues with a wide variety of dog breeds and owners.
Appearing on national programs such as Live, With Regis and Kathie Lee, CNN, MSNBC and FOX News, along with hundreds of local morning news programs, Joel has offered advice on pet care and training based on his lifetime commitment to the welfare of animals and their special place in our lives. His efforts on behalf of animal rescue and welfare organizations are well known and remain Joel’s personal and professional priority.

Ultimate “Stay” Contest
Can your dog “Stay”? Really, really “Stay”? If so, you might have the winner of the Ultimate Stay Contest. It’s a test of obedience and will as we have the handlers put their dogs in a “Stay” command, then we start adding distractions. Rolling tennis balls, treats, noises, all the while moving the handlers farther from the dogs. Great prizes for great behavior in the Ultimate “Stay” Contest!

“Leave It” Contest
If we put a small piece of a hot dog in front of your dog, could he/she “Leave It” on your command? It’s fun to see which dog has the best will power as we test behavior and training skills in the “Leave It” Contest. Even the crowd gets in the act with this Contest as we search for out 2009 Leave It Champion!

Costume Contest
The competition gets bigger every year and the costumes get cuter and more creative as we celebrate the Halloween season with our Costume Contest. There are two categories: Homemade and Store Bought. The crowd loves them both and they do the judging, so bring your friends and cheer on your favorite best dressed pet!

Neuter-A-Tom presented by Animal Protection & Education
Help prevent unwanted litters of kittens by having your male cats and kittens neutered. To qualify, kittens must be at least 8 weeks old and weigh at least three pounds.
Last year we set a goal of 100 procedures and we met that goal. This year, we’re raising that number to 125. We’ll take 75 on Saturday and 50 on Sunday.

What you receive for your $35 fee includes:
•Male cat/kitten neuter procedure
•Microchip with lifetime registration
•Rabies shot if old enough
•First Distemper Combo (booster recommended if not previously vaccinated)
•Application of Revolution addresses ear mites, round worms, hook worms & fleas
•Your fee does not include a ticket to the Great Iowa Pet Expo, but we invite you to attend the event.

Please drive around to the back side (south side) of the 4H Building on the Iowa State Fairgrounds to drop off and pick up your cat or kitten.
Microchip Clinic: $25 Fee Includes Lifetime Registration
Animal Protection and Education will offer a Microchip Clinic each day of the Great Iowa Pet Expo. There will be a $25 fee per pet.
The Microchip service will be offered:
Saturday Noon – 3 p.m.
Sunday 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
No pre-registration is required, this is a walk-up, on-site service. The Microchip fee does not include admission to the Great Iowa Pet Expo.
